Dear fellow writer,
What do neurodiverse/neurodivergent writers need in order to flourish? As teachers, colleagues, and mentors, how can we best support them? And if you identify as neurodiverse/neurodivergent yourself, what strategies can help you cope with the demands of mainstream academic writing?
Join me for this FREE WriteSPACE Special Event with Eirini Tzouma, an Academic Development Advisor at the University of Durham who published a recent guest post in the Thesis Whisperer blog about the many challenges faced by neurodiverse writers in academe. As Eirini reminds us, "Neurodiversity/divergence isn't a problem to be fixed; it's a vital part of the mosaic of who we are."
In the first hour of this free 2-hour Zoom event, I’ll engage Eirini in a wide-ranging conversation about neurodiversity and neurodivergence in scholarly writing. In the second hour, we’ll jointly lead a hands-on workshop and discussion for WriteSPACE members and invited guests. A video of the first hour will be made available to all registered participants, and a recording of the full 2-hour session will be archived in the members-only WriteSPACE Library. Bring along a short text sample (100 - 1000 words) if you want to put your words through a workout in a safe, supportive environment — or you can hang back watch from the sidelines if you prefer.
